Thank you so much for reading my essay! I would hope that would not be the case for the vast majority of Evangelicals, but I do suppose anything is possible. The Blue Parakeet by Scott McKnight is a really excellent book that shows how everyone (especially those who profess that they don't pick and choose from the Bible), choose to focus on certain passages and ignore others to advance their own agenda. He really argues well for a contextual, historical view when engaging with the Bible. He points out some really interesting contradictions.
