Thank you for this important article! I wish everyone knew that the same men who taught that Biblical women should raise children at home are the same men who lobbied the govt. to make it financially burdensome to work outside the home in the first place. Thank you for sharing this!

Surely the phrase, "help meet" (translation from the Hebrew ezer kenegdo) cannot mean men's subordinate helper if the same phrase has been used to describe God elsewhere in the Hebrew scriptures.
